Weekday mornings just after opening at 10:00 AM offer the quietest halls. Avoid Monday afternoons when school groups flood the galleries.
Budsjettips
General entry costs 7 EUR, with free admission on Wednesdays and Sundays after 4:00 PM (closing at 6:30 PM). The Madrid City Pass or Paseo del Arte card does not include this museum, but students and seniors get reduced rates.

Raske fakta: Over 6 millioner prøver fyller samlingshallene, fra dinosaurfossiler til funklende edelstener. Museets største trekkplaster, en 14 meter lang kopi av et Diplodocus-skjelett, møter besøkende rett i inngangshallen.
Høydepunkter: Ett rom inneholder skjelettet av "Big Bertha", en 40 tonn tung afrikansk elefant som en gang levde i Madrids dyrehage, sammen med et uhyggelig komplett Megatherium-dovendyrfossil fra Argentina. Hvalgalleriet har hengt et 20 meter langt finnhvalskjelett i taket, slik at du kan gå rett under jordens nest største dyr.
Insidertips
- Head straight to the Biodiversity Hall on the top floor first, it's the most impressive and least crowded early in the day.
- Touch the 100-kilo meteorite in the Minerals Hall, it's one of the few exhibits you're actually allowed to handle.
- Skip the crowded ground floor T. rex area on weekends and save it for the last 30 minutes before closing.
- Photography without flash is permitted everywhere, the whale skeleton hall has great lighting around 2:00 PM.
