Weekday mornings right when doors open (10am) are the quietest, giving you the Victorian street and tank displays almost to yourself. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable temperatures for exploring the outdoor areas.

Raske fakta: Et av de største sosialhistoriske museene i fylket huser over 250 000 gjenstander som spenner over tre århundrer av dagliglivet. Samlingen inkluderer en fryktinngytende stridsvogn fra 1941, et viktoriansk klasserom komplett med originale blekkflekkede pulter, og en kino fra 1920-tallet som fortsatt viser filmer.
Høydepunkter: Du kan klatre opp i en fullstendig restaurert campingvogn fra 1960-tallet gjemt i museets uteområde, komplett med blomstrede puter og en liten ovn. Den virkelige magien skjer i de historiske verkstedene hvor luktene av olje og tre transporterer deg rett inn i en smedssmie fra 1800-tallet.

- Don't miss the World War I trench experience in the back gallery, it's easy to walk past but incredibly atmospheric.
- The vintage vehicles barn has a penny-farthing bicycle you can stand next to for a great photo.
- Save the indoor schoolroom for last, the kids will be tired by then and can sit at the old desks for a proper rest.
