Boston Common
Beste tid å besøke
Golden light floods the lawns in late September and October, when the maples peak and the air turns crisp. Early weekday mornings stay quietest, before the tour groups roll in.
Budsjettips
Entry costs nothing at any hour, and the park doubles as a free shortcut across downtown. Skip the food carts, grab a packed lunch from the market two blocks over, and follow the free trail map instead of a paid tour.

Om
Raske fakta: America's oldest public park spreads across a full 50 acres of downtown green. Cows grazed here for two centuries, redcoats pitched tents on the grass in 1776, and a violent 1876 storm toppled the Great Elm after roughly 200 years of shade.
Høydepunkter: For more than two centuries, dairy cows acted as the park's official groundskeepers, chewing the grass flat long before any flower bed was planted. Come winter, that same expanse floods and freezes into a downtown ice rink, where the scrape of blades mixes with roasted-chestnut smoke and laughter bouncing off office towers.
Insidertips
- Take the Park Street T exit at the top of the rise to step straight into the park's best downward sweep of lawn.
- Rent skates at the Frog Pond's warming hut in winter, roughly $10 with locker included.
- The Brewer Fountain sprays warm gold just before sunset in October, a perfect free photo stop.
- Picnickers should snag a bench under the remaining elms early, because locals grab them fast on warm weekends.
