Cerro Bellavista
Best time to visit
In the morning around 9-11 the light is best and there are fewer people. Spring and autumn are ideal, as there is neither scorching sun nor heavy fog.
Budget tips
The streets and murals are free. A ticket to the Pablo Neruda house museum costs about 7 euros, with discounts for students and children. It may be good to have cash on hand, as not all smaller places accept cards.

About
Quick facts: It is the largest painted area in Valparaiso, where over 200 houses are covered with colorful murals. Thanks to the streets of Cerro Bellavista, nearly 500,000 visitors wander here every year looking for the right photo spots.
Highlights: The most famous attraction is "La Sebastiana," Pablo Neruda's house, whose windows offer a view of the entire city and the ocean. On the hillsides there are also unique elevators, such as Ascensor Concepcion, which lift visitors up the steep streets and create unique views.
Insider tips
- The best time for taking photos is early morning, when the light is soft and the shadows are long.
- A ride on the Ascensor Concepción funicular costs only a few cents but offers a memorable view of the entire bay.
- Look for Pasaje Piano on Cerro Bellavista street, it is one of the most photographed spots in the city.
- Avoid weekends and holidays, as that is when local tourists are around and the streets become crowded.
