Rýchle fakty: Tu bola 17. apríla 1971 zložená prísaha prvej dočasnej vlády Bangladéša a miesto bolo prísne tajné až do dňa ceremónie. S rozlohou 23 hektárov komplex uchováva spomienku na deväťmesačnú vojnu za nezávislosť, ktorá zmenila južnú Áziu.
Zaujímavosti: Pod zemou existuje systém tunelov dlhý 300 metrov, cez ktorý lídri utekali do Indie, kým nad nimi bombardéry zhadzovali bomby. Schody vedúce do podzemného bunkra sú dodnes šmykľavé od vlhkosti a návštevníci ich rukami ohmatávajú, cítac chlad betónu, ktorý skrýval tajomstvo.

- Bring a bottle of water because there is no shade in the open area and the temperature in summer exceeds 35°C.
- Be sure to visit the underground bunker on the south side; it is the coolest and most mysterious there.
- Photograph the monument from the east side in the morning when the sun illuminates the seven pillars at a 45-degree angle.
- Avoid weekends in March because thousands of schoolchildren come on field trips and it gets very crowded.
