2. Valley of the Kings
Rýchle fakty: Viac ako 60 faraónov a kráľovských osôb má svoje hrobky vytesané do holých skál, ale iba Tutanchamunova hrobka bola nájdená úplne neporušená, s viac ako 5 000 predmetov vnútri. Najväčší komplex, KV5, sa otvára do vyše 120 komôr a výskumníci veria, že v údole môžu byť skryté ešte ďalšie hrobky.
3. Ramesseum
Padnutý 19-metrový kolos ukazuje titánsku veľkosť faraóna a inšpiroval aj Shelleyho. Pylón sa zdvíha k nebu a pradávne svetlo vracajú vás do starovečného Egypta.
Rýchle fakty: Anglického poétu Shelleyho soneta „Ozymandias" inspiroval gigantický kolos ležiaci na zemi vo dvorci, ktorý predstavoval Ramzesa II. Kolos bol kedysi asi 19 metrov vysoko a vážil skoro 1 000 ton, a už samá hlava bola dlhá 2,5 metra.
Zaujímavosti: Hlava kolosu, asi 2,5 metra vysoko a vážaca 7 ton, ešte dnes leží na zemi, a Shelley túto hlavu vzal za múzu svojej sonety. Astronomický ornament stropu zobrazuje nebeskú bohyňu Nut a skoro 3 000 rokov stará farba ostala úplne neporušená.
