Avoid eating near Piazza Duomo, prices are higher and the food less authentic. Walk just two blocks out for way better local trattorias and cheaper wines.
Had mixed feelings. Some streets felt a bit neglected, but locals were friendly. Worth a quick visit if you’re in the area but don’t plan too long here.
Eating out was affordable compared to other Sicilian towns. Tried a few trattorias where the pasta was homemade and very tasty. Would come back for food alone.
Bus tickets are sold on the bus but the drivers don’t always carry change. Always have small bills or coins ready or buy at a kiosk beforehand.
Giarre feels like a quiet gem. The food was simple but delicious, especially the fresh seafood. Not too touristy, perfect for a chill 3-day stay.
