Brze činjenice: The river flows through the lush Rio Grande Valley, carved between the Blue Mountains and the John Crow Mountains over millennia. Riders sit high on 30-foot bamboo rafts guided by local boatmen who pole the shallow, tea-colored water downstream.
Istaknuto: The bamboo rafts themselves are hand-built from stalks of freshly cut bamboo bound together with rope, each lasting only a few trips before a new one is constructed. Errol Flynn is credited with introducing bamboo rafting to the river in the 1940s after a drunken bet that he couldn't pole a raft down the Rio Grande, a story local guides still tell with a grin.
