The 8-kilometer stretch of hard-packed sand between the forest and the Sea of Japan has been a public roadway since 1965, free for anyone to use.
Istaknuto: At low tide, the sand firms up enough that even a compact sedan can cruise at 50 km/h with salt spray misting the windshield. Pull over anywhere along the 8-kilometer stretch, pop the trunk, and have a full beach picnic with the car's stereo playing while waves crash a few steps away.
