O atrakciji

Brze činjenice: Pre oko 9.000 godina, ovo naselje na obalama Dunava bilo je dom ribojeda koji su klešući kamen stvarali jezive skulpture s trapezoidnim čelima. Izuzetno očuvana arhitektura ovog lokaliteta otkriva kuće s preciznim trapezoidnim tlocrtima i ognjištima premazanim krečnim malterom raspoređenim u gotovo matematičkom obrascu.

Istaknuto: Pogledajte pažljivo ogromne peščane stene isklesane ljudskim licima nalik ribljim: spadaju među najstarije monumentalne skulpture u Evropi, starije od piramida za 4.000 godina. Arheolozi su ovo kamenje zatekli kako i dalje stoji tačno na mestu gde je postavljeno, orijentisano ka reci i sunčevoj putanji kroz klisuru.

Insajderski saveti

  • Wear sturdy shoes: the walkways between excavated houses are gravel and can be uneven near the river's edge.
  • The on-site museum displays the original 8,000-year-old sculptures, while casts remain outdoors, so don't skip the indoor gallery.
  • Bring binoculars to spot white-tailed eagles and cormorants fishing along the Danube from the site's elevated terrace.
  • Go on a weekday morning if possible: weekends draw bus tours from Belgrade, filling the wooden walkways by noon.
