Istaknuto: The dock's cast iron columns and granite walls were fireproofed after a devastating 1810 blaze destroyed earlier wooden warehouses. You can still spot the original iron tie rods and brick vaulted ceilings that made this the safest place to store cotton, tobacco, and sugar in all of Britain.
