Late afternoon on a weekday, when tour groups have thinned out and the golden light hits the riverfront facade. Weekends draw bigger crowds, so aim for mid-week visits to enjoy the terrace in relative quiet.

- Look closely at the giant statue below the fortress and ask locals about the hand-tossing legend, it's the city's strangest and best story.
