About
Insider tips
- Wear comfortable shoes; paths are uneven and several sections have steep steps.
- Head to the south terrace for the best view of the Vltava and Charles Bridge at sunrise or sunset.
- Avoid weekends around midday when tour groups arrive, aim for early morning or after 5 pm to escape crowds.
- Buy tickets for the basilica tower or casemates online when available to skip queues and guarantee entry.

4.3Arrived at 8am, nearly empty. Grounds are free and peaceful, paid a small fee for the casemates and it was worth it.
Came at 3pm, busy but not packed. The basilica views are lovely and free, the audio guide seemed overpriced for the short visit.
Weekend visit around noon, very crowded and some areas closed. Paid for the underground tour but it felt rushed and not great value.
Perfect sunset visit, quiet park spots and great river views. Picnic cheaper than the museum, and the small entry to the crypt was worth the cost.
