Sunset, around 19:00-20:00 in summer, is magical: the sky turns orange and the Thermaic Gulf reflects the colors. The months of May through October offer the best experience for a stroll and outdoor dining.

Hakkında

Hızlı bilgiler: Aristotle Square was designed in 1918 by the French architect Ernest Hebrard, after a devastating fire that burned most of the city. It is the largest square in Thessaloniki, with a length exceeding 300 meters, and offers a unique view of the Thermaic Gulf.

Öne çıkanlar: Every morning around 10:00, the square fills with the intense aroma of fresh coffee and the rustling of newspapers, as locals gather at its traditional coffee shops. Few know that beneath the square lies an entire network of ancient Byzantine walls and labyrinths, which were discovered by chance during metro construction work.

İçeriden ipuçları

  • For the best photo, stand at the highest point of the square (on Egnatia Street) and shoot toward the sea.
  • Avoid the square on weekday afternoons (13:00-16:00) due to the heat and increased traffic.
  • Sunday morning the square is quieter and ideal for a relaxing walk with a coffee in hand.
  • Look for building number 7 on the square: it houses the historic cafe "Makedonikon," one of the oldest in the city.
