About
Quick facts: More than 600 gold and ceramic pieces tell the story of the Tayrona people who lived in the Sierra Nevada. Some objects are over 1,500 years old and bear witness to a complex system of cosmological and spiritual beliefs.
Highlights: The museum displays the "Poporo Quimbaya," a 220-gram gold piece used to hold lime during sacred rituals. The rooms are arranged in a circle to recreate the Tayrona cosmic vision, where each direction corresponds to a different natural element.
