Korla is world famous for its fragrant pears, and this dessert soup uses the sweet, juicy local pears slowly poached with rock sugar and goji berries for a comforting treat.

A local twist on the traditional Xinjiang flatbread, it is topped with Korla honey and crushed walnuts, creating a naturally sweet snack enjoyed with tea.

Sun dried Korla fragrant pears are simmered with cinnamon and cloves to make a spiced fruit compote that captures the region's famous pear flavor year round.

This hearty rice dish features locally raised lamb and carrots cooked in a fragrant broth, and it is considered the centerpiece of any festive meal in Korla.

Originating from nearby Xinjiang, this dish combines chunks of chicken, potatoes, peppers, and wide hand pulled noodles in a spicy, savory sauce, served on one enormous platter.

Marinated in cumin, chili, and local spices, these charcoal grilled lamb skewers are a staple street food in Korla, sizzling at markets every evening.

Freshly pressed from the famous Korla fragrant pears, this juice is incredibly sweet and aromatic, requiring no added sugar because the pears themselves are so flavorful.

A staple in Xinjiang, this tea is made with brick tea, fresh milk, and a pinch of salt, and it is traditionally served with naan bread for breakfast.

Made from fragrant local roses and sugar, this chilled floral drink is a popular way to cool down during Korla's hot summers and has roots in Central Asian traditions.

Went in October and the weather was perfect. Cool mornings warm afternoons. The pear orchards were incredible that time of year.
Korla feels safe even at night which surprised me. Lots of people out walking around till late. Nice relaxed energy.
The bus system is confusing as hell and nobody speaks English. But everyone was super helpful even with the language barrier. Mixed feelings overall.
Bring cash. So many places especially food stalls only take cash or local payment apps you cant get as a tourist. Learned that the hard way.
If you visit the Grand Mosque area go early around 8am before the crowds. You get the whole place to yourself and the light for photos is perfect.
