Charles Bridge
Best time to visit
Early morning at sunrise for soft light and far fewer people, making photography and a peaceful stroll much easier. Late evening after 9pm offers illuminated views and a quieter atmosphere.
Budget tips
Crossing the bridge is free; Old Town Bridge Tower charges a small fee and is often included with the Prague Card, so compare prices before you climb. Avoid paid 'private' souped-up tours on the bridge and buy snacks off the main span to save money.

About
Insider tips
- Wear comfortable shoes, the bridge is uneven cobblestones with stairs at the ends.
- Shoot photos beside the St John of Nepomuk statue for the classic shot, or climb Charles Bridge Tower for elevated views of the river and castle.
- Avoid the central span between 10:00 and 18:00 when tour buses and cruise groups congregate, aim for before 8:00 or after 21:00.
- Keep bags zipped and valuables secure, and skip the overpriced souvenir stalls clustered in the middle of the bridge.

4.0Got to Charles Bridge at sunset, still busy but more relaxed than noon. Crossing is free, skip the portrait shops, the short Vltava cruise at dusk was worth the fee. (3 stars)
Arrived at 7am and had Charles Bridge mostly to myself. No entry fee and the sunrise views were worth the early wake up. (5 stars)
Visited Charles Bridge around noon and it was packed with tourists and vendors. No fee but souvenir stalls felt overpriced, the statues and people watching made it worthwhile. (4 stars)
