Munich is a safe and orderly city for tourists, with a low violent-crime rate and strong English proficiency. The main risks are minor: overpriced taxis from the airport when not using the official rank, pickpocketing in crowds, and the occasional menu-without-prices restaurant near major sights. Follow official transport and taxi procedures and you will have few problems.

Approach arriving travelers inside the terminal offering a flat rate to the city. They are not licensed and charge inflated prices with no meter.
Use only the official taxi rank outside arrivals. Book via Free Now or Uber if you prefer an app.
Thieves work in pairs or groups, creating distractions while lifting wallets and phones from pockets and bags in dense crowds.
Keep bags zipped and in front of you. Do not leave phones on tables at outdoor beer gardens or cafés.
People approach you to sign a petition or bet on a street game, then pressure you for a cash donation or take money during the distraction.
Keep walking and politely decline without engaging. Never hand over your wallet or phone.
Visitors forget to validate their ticket in the red box before boarding, then face a heavy fine when inspectors check on trains and trams.
Always stamp the ticket at the platform validator before you enter the train and keep it until you exit.
Exchange counters in central tourist areas offer weak rates and high commissions, often with confusing signs advertising rates that do not apply to cash.
Withdraw euros from a bank ATM instead. Decline dynamic currency conversion wherever you pay by card.
Munich Airport (MUC)
Metered fare from Munich Airport to the city centre is roughly 70 to 90 euros daytime. Use the official taxi rank outside arrivals and insist the meter runs from the start. Decline flat-rate offers from unlicensed drivers inside the terminal.
S-Bahn lines S1 or S8 from the airport station beneath the terminal into central Munich (€13.30, 约40分钟)
Rounding up the bill is the norm. In sit-down restaurants 5 to 10 percent is appreciated, and a small tip for taxi drivers is fine. Tipping is not mandatory anywhere.
Cover charges are not standard in Munich, though a small service charge may appear. Check that prices are shown on the menu before ordering; walk away if a menu has no prices, which occasionally happens near major sights.
Use bank-attached ATMs and always choose to be charged in euros, declining the dynamic currency conversion offered on screen. Independent ATM machines in tourist areas often carry higher fees. Cards with contactless payment work widely across the city.
