Avoid the beachfront restaurants if on a budget. Walk a few blocks inland where locals eat, food is cheaper and just as good.
The island is beautiful but I found the transportation a bit confusing. Tricycles everywhere and prices vary a lot unless you negotiate well.
Local seafood is fresh and tasty. Don't miss the grilled squid stands, simple but delicious. Just be ready for some pushy vendors.
If you like snorkeling, there is a less crowded spot near Crocodile Island with amazing coral and fish, much better than the main beach area.
Book boat tours early in the morning to avoid the midday heat and crowds. Vendors try to upcharge later in the day so negotiate early.
