Weekdays early in the morning or late in the evening, when the square is free of tourist crowds and you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. December is worth a visit because of the Christmas markets that light up the square with thousands of lights.

The square itself is free to walk around. Entry to the Brașov History Museum in the council tower costs about 10 lei (2 euros), I recommend withdrawing cash in advance, because local ATMs charge high fees.

The best photo is taken from the alley leading to the Black Church, from where the square is visible in all its beauty.
Avoid the main entrance to the town hall; on weekdays the side entrance at the back of the building is open.
On Tuesday mornings the square is at its quietest, because most tour buses arrive only after lunch.
