Statue of Liberty National Monument
Best time to visit
Early morning on weekdays avoids crowds and gives soft light for photos; late afternoon offers warm light but ferries and island crowds increase.
Budget tips
Ferry tickets from Statue Cruises include Liberty Island access and start around $24 for adults, pedestal and crown require reserved upgrades with limited availability; Staten Island Ferry offers free distant views but does not stop at the island.

About
Insider tips
- Book pedestal or crown tickets as early as possible, crown reservations can sell out months ahead.
- Catch the first ferry from Battery Park to avoid long security lines and get calmer waters for photography.
- Wear comfortable shoes and bring a light jacket, wind is often strong on the island and there are many stairs.
- Skip peak midday hours and consider the Staten Island Ferry if you only want skyline photos for free.

4.0Took midday ferry and it was busy but manageable, security took a while. Pedestal ticket extra cost but great photos, skip the audio guide to save time.
Late afternoon visit had long lines and limited ferry seats, reservation helped. Grounds were free but the island food was overpriced and the museum felt rushed.
Arrived at 7:30am and beat the crowds, ferry was quick. Crown access fee worth it for the view, museum was informative but crowded by noon.
