Fakte të shpejta: Located in the heart of the old town, this museum holds over 3,000 exhibits that tell the story of 4,000 years of human life in this area. Visitors can see everything from ancient Roman amphorae to olive processing tools used centuries ago.

Pikat kryesore: One of the most striking exhibits is a completely preserved Etruscan bronze scale from the 4th century BC, the only such example on the Adriatic. When you hold it in your hands, you will feel the weight of history: the needle still shows the exact measurement, as if it was made yesterday.

Këshilla të brendshme

  • Bring a magnifying glass: some small items like Roman coins and ancient jewelry have incredible details that you can easily overlook.
  • Make sure to climb up to the museum roof: the view of the Church of Saint Pellegrino and the harbor is the best in the entire city.
  • Ask the staff to open the drawers in the ethnography room: they keep smaller exhibits there that are not displayed in the showcases.
  • If you are interested in olive cultivation, ask for an oil tasting in the museum cellar, available with prior notice.
