Koha më e mirë për të vizituar

Visit on a crisp weekday morning in winter, when steam rises off the rice kettles and the whole hall smells like fresh rice malt. Weekends fill up with tour groups, so an early arrival keeps the tasting counter relaxed.

Këshilla për buxhetin

Entry and the daily tasting samples are completely free, so the tour itself costs nothing. For spending money, the shop sells seasonal bottles and 100 ml sampler cups from around 700 yen, far cheaper than airport prices.

Rreth

Fakte të shpejta: Fifty-six breweries once crowded this riverside district, churning out sake with mineral-rich Miyamizu water piped down from Mount Rokko. More than 1,000 cedar barrels now stand stacked in the preserved storehouses, a few of them hollowed and stitched together over a century ago.

Pikat kryesore: Step through the sliding doors and you can press your palm flat against a cedar fermentation vat so wide it takes three adults with arms stretched to circle it. Ask quietly at the tasting counter about the unpasteurized nama-shu and the staff will crack open a cold cellar bottle so you can taste the same batch three ways in one visit.

Këshilla të brendshme

  • Get there by 10am on a weekday to have the steaming fermentation hall to yourself.
  • Ask the tasting staff for the unpasteurized nama-shu, they quietly offer it to guests who request it.
  • From the end of the wooden walkway, shoot back toward the giant cedar vats, the skylight makes that angle glow.
  • Save the gift shop for last, seasonal bottles sell out by early afternoon and never arrive at airport stores.
