- Skip the main road viewpoints at midday when tour buses swarm and instead hike the Sendero de los Sentidos trail, a short loop that shows you the full range of forest types.
- Pack hiking boots with good grip: the ancient stone paths turn slick as glass when wet, and some sections involve steep staircases carved into the mountain.
- Stop for lunch in the village of La Laguna on your way back, not inside the park, where you'll find better food and prices at real Canarian guachinches.
