Fakte të shpejta: Rising 200 meters above the surrounding jungle, this massive granite outcrop was once part of the same rock formation as Sigiriya before centuries of erosion split them apart. Monks lived in caves on this hill for over 2,000 years, and a 3rd century BCE Buddhist monastery still has visible inscriptions and meditation platforms carved into the stone.
Pikat kryesore: At the summit, you get a view of Sigiriya that's actually better than standing on Sigiriya itself: the entire ancient fortress sits a kilometer away like a perfect miniature. Locals say the sunrise here turns the entire landscape shades of molten gold and deep violet, with mist pooling between the two rocks like a lake of clouds.

- Wear grippy closed-toe shoes, the final stretch is a near-vertical scramble over jagged boulders and loose gravel.
- The huge reclining Buddha at the base is modern, keep climbing past it to find the ancient cave monastery with original 1,500-year-old inscriptions.
- Bring a small flashlight or use your phone torch for the dark cave section near the top, it's pitch black and uneven inside.
- Skip the last 30 minutes before sunset, the descent in twilight is genuinely dangerous on the rocky sections.
