Fakte të shpejta: The salty smell of the sea and the slight creak of the pier boards are among the first sensory impressions that catch your attention as you walk along the quay. As nets are gathered, fresh fish are displayed on stalls along the shore and local fishermen sell their daily catch.
Pikat kryesore: The yellow lamps of 20 to 30 small fishing boats moored at the quay create bands on the water surface; as you walk you feel the boards' vibrations and the salty wind. According to a local tradition, some fishermen cast nets together in November and are said to distribute about 50 kilograms of the fish caught during the night to the neighborhood, and the morning market is full of the remnants of that sharing.
Këshilla të brendshme
- Wear comfortable shoes, the quay and streets are cobbled and can be slippery when wet.
- Head to the southern pier by the castle walls for uninterrupted sunset photos facing the Black Sea.
- Avoid the busiest restaurants directly on the pier; walk two streets inland for fresher prices and homestyle cooking.
- If planning a private boat trip, agree price and exact duration before boarding, or choose scheduled local ferries for lower cost.
