Fakte të shpejta: Spanning 375 feet across a 70-foot deep canyon, the bridge sways and bounces beneath your sneakers with each step. Pedestrians have used it as a daily hillside shortcut since 1929, and only a handful of similar street suspension bridges remain in the country.

Pikat kryesore: Architect Irving Gill designed the crossing with no rigid frame below, so the wooden deck ripples and shudders at mid-span while the steel cables hum overhead. From the dead center, the railing drops to your waist and the whole canyon opens up beneath your feet, with eucalyptus scent drifting past on every breeze.

• Keep your hands free and loose items zipped up, because the low rail gives a dizzying view straight down into the 70-foot drop.
