Brze činjenice: Sonet „Ozymandias" engleskog pjesnika Shelleyja inspirirao je ogromni kolos koji je pao na zemlju u dvorištu, a koji je prikazivao Ramzesa II. Kolos je nekada bio visok oko 19 metara i težak gotovo 1.000 tona, a sama glava duga je 2,5 metra.
Istaknuto: Glava kolosa, visoka oko 2,5 metra i teška 7 tona, i danas leži na zemlji, a upravo je ta glava bila muzom za Shelleyjev sonet. Astronomski ornament na grobnici prikazuje nebesku boginju Nut, a natpis star gotovo 3.000 godina ostao je potpuno netaknut.
