Brze činjenice: Ova kamena kapija iz 4. stoljeća p.n.e. nekada je čuvala 7 kilometara duge zidine drevnog Halikarnasa, prvobitnog imena za Bodrum. Mramorni blokovi bili su tako precizno rezani da su se uklapali bez ikakvog maltera, a duboke kolotrage kotača i dalje vidljive na uličnom kamenu pokazuju gdje su prolazile kočije.
Istaknuto: Pažljivo pogledajte južnu kulu i primijetit ćete skoro 200 drevnih grafita koje su ostavili vojnici i plaćenici koji su čuvali ovu kapiju prije 2.300 godina. Među urezanim crtežima nalaze se prikazi ratnih brodova i rijedak feničanski natpis, direktna poruka od kući nostalgičnog stražara stacioniranog daleko od svoje domovine.
