Këtu çdo tullë kujton guximin e njerëzve, kur në vitin 1941 një grusht ushtarësh për javë të tëra mbajtën mbrojtjen kundër një ushtrie mijëshe. Ecën nëpër bastione gjigante dhe nën këmbë dëgjohen jehonat e historisë.
Kiired faktid: Kjo kështjellë gjatë minutave të para të Luftës së Madhe Patriotike mori goditjen kryesore dhe mbrojtësit e saj pa ujë dhe ushqim qëndruan për gati një muaj. Muret janë ende të shënuara nga plumba dhe një nga hyrjet, Porta e Kholmit, shkëlqen me tulla të lëmuara nga qymyri.
Esiletõstmised: Nën kështjellë shtrihet një rrjet tunelesh nëntokësore 8 kilometra të gjata, përmes të cilave mbrojtësit lëviznin fshehurazi midis bastioneve. Në vitin 1965 kështjellës iu dha titulli "Kështjellë Heroinë" - vetëm tre vende në të gjithë vendin e kanë këtë titull.


Këtu një tren i ndalur tregon historinë shekullore të hekurudhave. Mbi 70 eksponate mjetesh hekurudhore që mund t'i shihni nga afër, të ndjeni frymëmarrjen e lokomotivës me avull.
Kiired faktid: Selles vabaõhuplatsil seisab üle 70 auru-, diisel- ja elektriveduri, millest mõned on toodetud juba 19. sajandil. Suurim eksponaat kaalub 165 tonni - see on nõukogudeaegne raske auruvedur FD, mis suutis vedada lasti terve kilomeetri pikkuselt.
Esiletõstmised: Üks kõige üllatavamaid eksponaate on Saksa kitsarööpmeline auruvedur, mida Wehrmacht kasutas Idarindel ja mis pärast sõda teenis veel aastakümneid Valgevene turbasoodes.

Esiletõstmised: The most famous treasure of this museum is the surviving fragments of the Berlin Reichstag wall with inscriptions left by soldiers, including some in Lithuanian. You can touch them with your hand, which evokes a much stronger emotional feeling than any photograph.

The train ride from Minsk to Brest was smooth and cheap. Definitely worth a weekend trip if you have time in Belarus.
Went in early October and the weather was perfect for walking around. Not too cold yet and barely any tourists.
Brest was way quieter than Minsk. The fortress is impressive but honestly half a day is enough unless you're really into Soviet history.
The pedestrian street along Gogolya at night had such a nice vibe. Cafes were cheap and locals were friendly even with my broken Russian.
Take the train from Minsk to Brest, it's faster and more comfortable than the bus. Book tickets on the Belarusian Railway app in advance.
