Teave
Kiired faktid: Asudes kivisel kaljul Araabia mere kohal, on see tuletorn juhtinud laevu läbi Kerala ranniku reetlike vete alates 1900. aastate algusest. Selle iseloomulikud punased ja valged triibud muudavad selle meremeestele kergesti äratuntavaks juba kilomeetrite kauguselt Kannuri sadamale lähenedes.
Esiletõstmised: Erinevalt enamikest tuletornidest, mida saab vaadata ainult alt, laseb see tuletorn ronida tippu, et nautida 360-kraadist panoraami, kus Lakshadweepi meri kohtub kookospalmidega kaetud kallastega. Selgetel päevadel võib märgata kaugel Mappila Bay kalalaevastiku piirjooni, kui see hommikusele püügile suundub, nende puust kered kõikuvad silmapiiril.
Sisekujunduse nõuanded
- Wear closed-toe shoes for climbing the narrow spiral staircase, as the metal steps can get slippery.
- Visit on a weekday morning to have the lighthouse almost entirely to yourself.
- Position yourself on the east-facing side of the top deck for the best photos of the red-and-white tower against the blue sky.
- Skip the small souvenir shop at the entrance and instead walk 5 minutes to the local market for better prices.
