Faits rapides: The current building is a faithful 2004 reconstruction of the original 1602 city hall, which was demolished in 1857 on orders from the Russian Empire. Its clock tower chimes every hour with a melody composed specifically for Minsk, and the square in front hosts the city's official Christmas tree each winter.
