Faits rapides: La colline sur laquelle se trouve la plateforme d'observation porte le nom d'un conquistador espagnol qui fonda cette ville en 1567. Par temps clair, des maisons colorées sur pilotis s'étendent sous vos pieds, et à l'horizon, au-delà du fjord, se détachent les volcans du continent.
Points forts: D'ici, toute la vieille ville ressemble à un village coloré flottant sur l'eau: les maisons sur pilotis s'alignent juste sous vos pieds, et deux clochers d'églises jaunes dépassent au-dessus des toits. Le soleil du soir teinte les façades des palafittes de bleu, de jaune et de rouge, et leurs reflets se dédoublent à la surface du fjord tandis que se dessinent à l'horizon les volcans du continent.

- Wear a waterproof jacket and sturdy footwear, because the wind blowing from the fjord is sudden and the steps are slippery after rain.
- The best photos of the stilt houses are taken from the very top tier of the viewpoint with a telephoto lens.
- Avoid midday when the harsh light washes out the colors, and plan your visit for the last two hours of the day.
- At dusk the viewpoint is almost empty, so you will be able to quietly watch as the windows of the houses on stilts light up.
