Points forts: Guides often point out tiny bright-green moss banks that trap minerals and help build travertine dams, which can grow at rates up to 1 cm per year. Listen for a hush when an electric boat glides across the deepest central lake, the air tasting of wet pine and limestone while waterfalls drum in the distance.
