Faits rapides: Le canal s'étend sur 240 kilomètres et relie l'océan Atlantique à la mer Méditerranée. Il compte 63 écluses, 126 ponts et 7 ponts-canaux, et a été inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 1996.
