Faits rapides: Haute de 26 mètres avec ses massives colonnes doriques, cette porte en grès marquait l'entrée ouest de la ville. Frédéric le Grand la commanda comme symbole de la victoire prussienne, et elle précède la version plus célèbre de Berlin de près de deux décennies.

Points forts: Le toit de la porte était à l'origine conçu comme une terrasse d'observation où la royauté prussienne regardait les défilés militaires passer sous l'arche. On peut encore apercevoir des impacts de balles de la Seconde Guerre mondiale criblant la surface en grès, cicatrices subtiles qui ont échappé à la restauration d'après-guerre.
