Faits rapides: Plus de 300 000 objets remplissent ses salles, allant de l'ère paléolithique à la période islamique. Le seul iwan d'entrée en brique survivant mesure 12 mètres de haut et est orné de quelques-uns des plus beaux exemples de carreaux de céramique persans du début du 20e siècle.

- Start with the Pre-Islamic wing (left side) before the crowds pour in around 11 AM, then cross to the Islamic Era building after lunch.
- The Salt Man exhibit is in a dimly lit room on the ground floor of the main building, easy to miss if you follow the standard route clockwise.
- Photography without flash is allowed, but the lighting is notoriously low in the pottery halls, so bring a camera with good low-light performance.
- Skip the small gift shop near the exit, it sells overpriced replicas you can find for half the price at the nearby bazaar.
