Meilleur moment pour visiter

Sunday late morning to early afternoon for the rockabilly dancers and street performers. Come in late March or early April for cherry blossoms along the zelkova-lined paths.

Conseils budget

Entry is completely free. Bring your own picnic supplies from nearby shops instead of buying from park vendors, and rent a bike from the City Cycle rental station just outside Harajuku Gate for 200 yen per day.

À propos

Faits rapides: More than 10,000 trees blanket this 54-hectare park, including a stunning 600-meter-long promenade of 98 zelkova trees. On any given Sunday, you'll find J-pop dance groups, rockabilly dancers in 1950s attire, and cosplayers all claiming their own patch of grass.

Points forts: On weekend mornings, the park's iconic fountains become an outdoor dancehall where Elvis-impersonating rockabilly crews in leather jackets and pompadours have been jiving for over 40 years. Grab a spot near the NHK building entrance around noon on a Sunday to watch 50-plus dancers spin and snap to 1950s tunes, a tradition that started with just a handful of bikers in the 1980s.

Conseils d'initiés

  • Arrive before 10 a.m. on weekends to claim a good picnic spot under the big zelkova trees before the crowds roll in.
  • The paths near the NHK building side stay quiet even on busy Sundays , perfect for a peaceful stroll or reading a book.
  • Pack a blanket and snacks from the Maruetsu supermarket near Meiji-jingumae Station , convenience stores nearby charge double.
  • The park's public toilets by the Harajuku Gate entrance are the cleanest and least crowded on the premises.

Notre conseil voyage n°1
