Faits rapides: Environ 3 000 ânes transportent eau, marchandises et personnes dans la vieille ville sans voitures, et chacun d'eux reçoit des soins vétérinaires gratuits lorsqu'il en a besoin. Le refuge traite environ 60 patients hospitalisés à la fois, des sabots fendus aux vilaines plaies de selle, puis les renvoie au travail une fois complètement guéris.
Points forts: Chaque âne porte une cloche qui fait tinter une douce bande-son dans les ruelles étroites, et dans la cour sablonneuse, vous remarquerez des enclos peints du nom manuscrit de chaque patient. Les propriétaires ne peuvent pas ramener un âne en convalescence à un travail de rue pénible tant qu'un vétérinaire n'a pas donné le feu vert, une règle qui a sauvé des milliers d'animaux du surmenage.
