Faits rapides: Sur une surface de quelques hectares seulement vivent ici quelque 80 espèces d'animaux malgaches, des caméléons bleu royal aux fossas, en passant par l'indri, le plus grand des lémuriens. La partie botanique du parc abrite un herbier d'environ 80 000 échantillons de plantes qui documentent la flore de l'île, dont soixante-dix pour cent n'existent nulle part ailleurs.
Points forts: L'aye-aye, lémurien nocturne au long doigt en forme d'araignée, y cherche ses vers au son du craquement de l'écorce, juste sous les yeux des visiteurs, bien que chez lui, dans la forêt tropicale, on le considère comme un mauvais présage. À la tombée du soir résonne le chant inimitable de l'indri, dont l'écho se propage à travers le parc qui s'apaise et évoque dans l'âme l'atmosphère des lointaines forêts pluvieuses.
