Faits rapides: Plus de 200 magasins s'entassent dans ce labyrinthe couvert où les marchands échangent de l'encens, des épices et des textiles depuis des siècles. Vous y trouverez des bijoux en argent omanais, des khanjars brodés (poignards cérémoniels) et un souk dédié aux parfums où les attars sont mélangés frais chaque jour.
Points forts: Frayez-vous un chemin dans l'étroite allée jusqu'au coin arrière où un seul orfèvre âgé grave encore à la main des bijoux de mariée en utilisant des techniques transmises sur cinq générations. Son minuscule atelier, à peine large de trois mètres, produit des pièces qui nécessitent deux semaines entières à réaliser et coûtent moins cher que les importations de masse venues d'Inde.

- Bring a scarf: some older shopkeepers expect women to cover bare shoulders when negotiating in their stalls.
