Faits rapides: Il y a environ 9 000 ans, cette implantation sur les rives du Danube abritait des mangeurs de poissons qui sculptaient d'inquiétantes statues de pierre au front trapézoïdal. L'architecture exceptionnellement bien préservée du site révèle des maisons aux plans au sol trapézoïdaux précis et des foyers enduits de chaux disposés selon un schéma quasi mathématique.

Points forts: Regardez attentivement les immenses blocs de grès sculptés de visages humains à l'allure de poissons : ils comptent parmi les plus anciennes sculptures monumentales d'Europe, précédant les pyramides de 4 000 ans. Les archéologues ont trouvé ces pierres encore dressées exactement là où elles avaient été placées, orientées vers la rivière et la trajectoire du soleil à travers les gorges.
