Table Mountain (Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, Cape Town)
Meilleur moment pour visiter
Early morning on clear days for calmer winds and shorter queues, giving the best light for photos. Late afternoon offers golden light but expect stronger winds and more visitors.
Conseils budget
Cableway charges a timed return ticket, buy online in advance for lower prices and to skip long ticket lines; check for reduced resident fares and SANParks promotional or national free-entry days. Consider the Cape Town sightseeing passes if planning multiple paid attractions to save overall.

À propos
Faits rapides: Giant slabs of sandstone form a flat, wind-swept summit where clouds pile up like a white tablecloth, giving you sudden, otherworldly vistas and the roar of ocean winds. Visitors riding the slowly rotating cable car get a dizzying 360-degree panorama as cliffs, city lights, and the Atlantic shift beneath them.
Points forts: On wind-still mornings a dramatic 'tablecloth' of cloud spills over the flat top like a slow white waterfall, carrying the sharp scent of sun-warmed fynbos into the ravines. During the five-minute ascent the rotating cable cars turn a full 360 degrees so every seat gets the shrinking city view, and up on the plateau more than 2,200 plant species grow, over 1,500 of them endemic, with the highest point around 1,086 meters above sea level.
Conseils d'initiés
- Dress in layers and bring a windproof jacket, mountain-top weather changes fast.
- Book a morning or late-afternoon time slot online to avoid the largest queues and windy cancellations.
- Stand near the rotating cable car windows for unobstructed panoramic photos during the ascent and descent.
- Skip the busiest cliff-edge spots by walking 10–15 minutes along the plateau to quieter viewpoints and quieter photos.
