Faits rapides: Près de 2,5 kilomètres de rivage s'étendent le long de la bordure ouest d'une étroite péninsule, avec un sable qui scintille en raison de fortes concentrations de mica minéral. L'historique Hotel del Coronado, achevé en 1888, ancre l'extrémité sud de la plage et fut le premier hôtel au monde à avoir l'électricité.
Points forts: À marée basse, le sable mouillé se transforme en un miroir naturel, reflétant le ciel et les tourelles rouges de l'hôtel dans une surface argentée scintillante. Surveillez les groupes de dauphins qui naviguent juste au-delà du déferlement, parfois à moins de 15 mètres du rivage, leurs nageoires dorsales fendant l'eau bleu-vert.
