Brze činjenice: Szonet Ozymandias engleskog pjesnika Shelleyja nadahnuo je golemi kolos koji je pao na tlo i prikazivao Ramzesa II. Kolos je nekoć bio visok oko 19 metara i težak gotovo 1000 tona, a sama je glava bila duga 2,5 metra.
Istaknuto: Glava kolosa, visoka oko 2,5 metra i teška 7 tona, i danas leži srušena na tlu, a Shelley je upravo tu glavu uzeo za muzu soneta. Astronomski ukras na stropu prikazuje božicu neba Nut, a gotovo 3000 godina stara boja ostala je potpuno netaknuta.
