Step into four floors of natural and human history, from ice age mammals to Edmonton's neon signs. Crawl through a massive beaver lodge, touch a 2,500-year-old spear point, and stand nose-to-nose with a giant ground sloth.

Fakta cepat: The bug room holds over 60,000 pinned insect specimens, making it one of Canada's largest collections. A full-size cast of a Albertosaurus skeleton towers over the main hall, a predator that stalked this region 70 million years ago.

Edmonton's most walkable neighborhood packs over 100 shops, pubs, and theaters along a single avenue. Stroll past preserved brick facades, catch a fringe show, and taste your way through a Saturday morning farmers market in a historic streetcar barn.

Fakta cepat: Over 100 vintage storefronts line Whyte Avenue, making it one of the largest surviving main street commercial districts in Canada. The area sprang to life in 1891 when the Calgary and Edmonton Railway chose this spot as its northern terminus, sparking a real estate frenzy overnight.

Sorotan: The Old Strathcona Farmers' Market packs 90+ vendors into a former streetcar repair barn every Saturday, where you can grab everything from elk pepperoni to handmade violins. Look up while you're inside and you'll see the original tracks still bolted to the ceiling from when trolleys were repaired overhead.

Walk across a towering double-decker bridge with views that stretch across the entire river valley. You will feel the rumble of trains passing below your feet through the open steel grate walkway.

Fakta cepat: At 48 meters above the North Saskatchewan River, it stands as the longest and tallest bridge of its kind in the world. Its two decks once carried streetcars above while trains and vehicles passed below, a feat of 1913 engineering.

Sorotan: Every October 31st since 1994, the bridge's upper deck transforms into a charity bungee jump platform called "The Drop," with over 200 jumpers plunging toward the river below to raise money for local nonprofits. Original streetcar rails still run along the upper deck, visible through the wooden planks as you walk across.

Skate or splash in a plaza that changes character with every season. Expect free concerts, choreographed fountains, and festivals spilling across the stones.

Fakta cepat: Every December the plaza freezes into an outdoor skating rink with free entry, while the same stones turn into a splash pad with computer-driven jets come summer. More than a hundred concerts, markets, and festivals fill its calendar yearly, from jazz night strokes to a 28-hour theater happening.

Sorotan: The fountain's individual nozzles are choreographed, so during concerts the water literally dances in sync with the beat that the crowd feels in their chests. Late at night the rink gets freshly polished by Zambonis, and you can carve figure eights while staring up at the neighboring hall's glowing glass pyramid.

Snow Valley Ski Club

12. Snow Valley Ski Club

Ski ResortAtraksi wisataLokasi aktivitas olahragaTempat menarikTempat

Low prices, short lift lines, and a gentle drop make this the friendliest place in town to learn. Glide past snow-dusted birch trees under floodlights, then thaw out by the fire.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much but the river valley trails blew me away. Best urban park system I've seen in Canada for sure.

Edmonton in January is brutal cold. Like your eyelashes freeze. But the indoor skywalk system saves you downtown, pretty clever actually.

Get the LRT day pass if you're staying central. Way cheaper than parking downtown and the trains run often enough. The wait at the transit center is rough though.

Don't bother with the fancy downtown steakhouses. Go to Italian Center Shop for sandwiches, grab some perogies from the Polish deli. Real Edmonton food is Eastern European and cheap.

The mall is fine but overhyped. Water park is cool if you have kids. I'd skip the wave pool and just walk the old strathcona market instead.
