About

Fakta singkat: A steep path winds past chalky rocks and juniper bushes, the ascent rewarded with sweeping views and fresh, spicy air. Many walkers and trail runners use the winding paths, the benches on the ridge at sunset are especially popular.

Sorotan: The summit reaches about 385 meters, from there the view on clear days extends several dozen kilometers and the evening sun turns the landscape into a warm, copper-colored band. Local families often bring a blanket and homemade cake, a lively tradition where on weekends groups of 20 to 50 people quickly gather for small picnics.

Insider tips

  • Wear sturdy shoes and a windproof layer, summit can be breezy even after calm walks.
  • For quieter trails, take the southern forest path from near Jenzigstraße instead of the main paved route.
  • Best photo angle faces west over the Saale valley a few metres from the summit cross at golden hour.
  • Avoid weekend midday crowds by arriving early morning or late afternoon, and bring water as no services are on the hill.

Spent 90 minutes exploring side trails in late afternoon, quiet sections and great city views. No entry fee, just pay for parking.

Hiked at noon, trails busy but manageable. Parking cost small, viewing platform crowded so go early or expect people.

Weekend visit at 3pm, lots of families and dogs. Trail signs could be clearer; the viewpoint itself feels a bit overrated for the walk.

Arrived at 7:30am, almost empty and sunrise was stunning. The short trail is free and worth the climb, paid cafe coffee not great.
