About
Fakta singkat: A mix of tree-lined paths, reed-filled lake edges, and limestone pavement lets you switch from quiet forest to windswept shore within a single hour. More than 150 plant species thrive along the route, and birdwatchers often spot whooper swans, barn owls, and curlews on the quieter trails.
Sorotan: Step close to a gnarled lime tree where carved initials from Yeats, Lady Gregory, and other literary friends still show pale scars, a tactile link to lively conversations once held on nearby benches. On calm evenings the lake glass reflects a chorus of frogs and the air smells of wet earth and wood smoke, and you might count a dozen whooper swans drifting past as twilight lowers.
Insider tips
- Wear waterproof walking shoes and layered clothing, paths can be muddy after rain.
- Head to the lakeshore at sunrise or late afternoon for reflections and the best photo light.
- Skip the full estate circuit when short on time and follow the 30-45 minute lakeside loop for highlights.
- Bring binoculars for the bird hide and watch for herons, swans and occasional otters.

4.0Arrived at 7:30am, almost empty and peaceful. Free entry, small parking fee was fair. Boardwalk views and wildflowers made it worth the trip.
Came at 2pm, very busy with school groups. Parking fee felt steep and the guided walk was overhyped, though the lake view was lovely.
