Castle was stunning but super crowded around noon. Got a bit hot so bring a hat or umbrella even in spring.
Food was decent but pricey given the size of portions. Recommend budgeting a bit more if you want to dine out comfortably.
Avoid eating around the main station, walk 5 minutes towards the east side for cheaper authentic options.
Visit Himeji Castle right at opening time to avoid crowds and get the best photos without people in them.
If you're in town on a weekday, try the local market near the city hall. Fresh produce and way less touristy than the main areas.
