Best in spring during snowmelt, when the water reaches maximum power and the waterfall roars the loudest. The afternoon sun creates beautiful rainbows above the rapids.

Insidertips

  • Stand on the viewing platform as close to the water as possible, but watch out for slippery rocks, especially after rain.
  • Protect your camera with a plastic bag, the water mist is intense and can wet the lens within seconds.
  • Come on a weekday early in the morning, around nine o'clock no one will get there before you.
  • From the bridge above the waterfall, look down into the whirlpools. The color of the water is an incredible turquoise due to fine clay.
